Cookie Care
Everything You Need to Know About Caring for Your AlyKat's Bakery Cookies
At AlyKat's Bakery, we view our cookies as more than mere treats – they're the "icing on the cookie", tying together and elevating your special event or sending a memorable message to your loved ones. Whether you're taking home our signature decorated sugar cookies or our melt-in-your-mouth chocolate chip, unlocking the full flavor and freshness of our cookies comes with understanding the art of proper care. In this guide, you'll be given everything to unlock the delectable essence of your AlyKat's Bakery cookies. From the importance of enjoying them within 1 week of pick-up to expert storage tips, consider this your roadmap to a longer-lasting cookie experience.
- Cookies will remain fresh upon receipt for up to 1 week as is, 2 weeks if individually heat sealed. Enjoy the cookies within 5 days for optimal freshness. Store in an airtight container (sealed zip lock bag is good)
- Storing your AlyKat's Bakery cookies in an airtight container is the key to preserving their freshness, even if they are sealed. Airtight containers prevent moisture from escaping and shield against air exposure, ensuring the cookies stay fresh
- Keep the cookies out of the refrigerator. Refrigerators don't maintain a lot of moisture, which can lead to faster drying out of cookies and potentially degrade their taste and texture
- Cookies should not be placed anywhere near a heater, especially in the car when transporting. Heat can ruin the design on royal icing cookies and melt ingredients such as chocolate
- If you can't eat them, freeze them**. Most AlyKat's Bakery cookies can be frozen in an airtight container or a freezer zip-top bag for up to three months while maintaining their deliciousness and beautiful designs. While the icing on decorated cookies is hard enough to stack other cookies on top of each other, do not stack anything heavy on top of the cookies while storing them
- When you're ready to relish your frozen treats, proper defrosting is crucial: allow cookies to defrost at room temperature for approximately two hours without opening the container or heat seal package; this keeps condensation during the thawing process from ruining your cookies. Trust me. Do not open the package until it has defrosted unless you intend to eat it frozen, or you can expect the icing to distort as it warms up
DO NOT MICROWAVE. - Reminder that royal icing is an icing with a "hard" bite. You'll experience a gentle crunch as you break through the icing and get to the soft, melt-in-your-mouth cookie. This crunch does not mean the cookies are dried out or "old"; it indicates that the icing has dried sufficiently to preserve the intricate designs we've diligently crafted for you
At AlyKat's Bakery, our commitment is to provide cookies that enhance your taste journey and dazzle with beautiful designs. Following these cookie care guidelines ensures that each bite from our creations is as good as the first. Thanks for reading!
